The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking students to work during the summer to perform duties in the area of wildlife management. Students will perform duties under close supervision. Duties may include: collecting data, tracking, monitoring and counting animals, computer entry, developing educational materials, conducting creel surveys, fish sampling, habitat measurement, fish stocking, hiking, camping, swimming or working varied hours. Fieldwork may involve long days outdoors in extreme temperatures.

Small Animal Keeper Interns commit at least 10 hours a week to working with our Animal Ambassadors (lizards, chinchillas, rabbits, hedgehogs, ferrets, lizards, tortoises, snakes, and invertebrates). Our collection comes to us from a variety of situations and help to support the Education Center’s messaging about responsible pet ownership and welfare topics while receiving quality lifelong care.

Studies of human and urban impacts on the behavior and physiology of wild birds
We seek student assistants for ongoing studies of human and urban impacts on the behavior and physiology of wild birds. Students will gain both field and lab skills, including animal capture/handling, measurement, blood sampling, captive husbandry, and experimentation. Hours can be flexible but should be at least 6/week. Some experience (e.g. with pet/rehab birds, lab biochemistry techniques) is preferred, as is a valid AZ driver’s license (for driving state vehicle to field sites). |

First and foremost we rescue pets that have been abandoned in foreclosed homes. We also offer options for families in crisis to be able to surrender their pet for adoption and not bring them to a shelter or take advantage of our temporary foster program. The Temporary Care Program gives families in crisis a safe place to leave their pets while they transition to a new living environment where they can re-claim their pets again.

Pawsitive Friendships is working with Foundation for Blind Children providing Animal Assisted therapy once per week. We are in need of a volunteer "helping hand" for our pet teams. Volunteers will actively be involved in the therapy session assisting the handler, animal and the students.
